We are a community choir of varying ages and musicality and we ALL love to sing! We are between 35-45 voices strong and are always looking for more to join us.

Musical Director:  Sue Doughty

Susan was born in Zimbabwe and began her music studies there. Her parents were “globe trotters” and their travels took them to South Africa, Zambia, Australia, and eventually, Canada. Music study was a priority in each place. After settling in BC, Susan earned her ARCT in piano and AVCM in voice. Susan taught in North Vancouver, Quesnel and Terrace before coming to Duncan in 1996. She teaches piano and voice from a studio in her home, serves as the music director at St. John’s Anglican Church in Duncan and for the Arbutus Ridge Choir. She was the choir’s accompanist for several years, then a choir member.  She has been our musical director since 2009.

Accompanist:  Ruth Williams

Ruth grew up in northern BC where she received an ARCT in Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto in both Solo Performer’s and Teacher’s degree. She went on to UBC to study with Boris Roubakine and received a Bachelor of Music degree. Ruth has been teaching piano and theory for over 35 years, the last 9 of them in Duncan. She enjoys working with all levels of students, beginner to advanced, and all ages. Ruth also frequently performs with her husband, Garth Williams an accomplished violinist. She enjoys ensemble playing and accompanying and has been the accompanist for the Duncan Choral Society since 2003.
